I-475 - Planning Toward The Future
The Ohio Department
of Transportation (ODOT) would like to thank you for visiting
the I-475 Strategic Plan website. The website’s address name –
www.thefuturei475.com - represents the mission of the study.
ODOT has identified the need to initiate a study for short, medium,
and long-term improvements to the I-475 corridor. If you commute daily on I-475, you know the problems that exist now.
This is the corridor where the I-475 Strategic Plan will focus its attention.
You will be able to keep up with our progress through this website and offer
your comments, questions and input. Welcome to the team!
Study Area Map
Background
The I-475 Strategic Plan is an important next step building on a study completed in 2002 by the Toledo Metropolitan Area Council of Governments (TMACOG). That technical report was referred to as the Expressway Needs Study/Major Investment Study (MIS).
This multi-year effort reviewed problems, needs, opportunities and possible transportation solutions on the existing expressway system in Wood and Lucas Counties.
The overall objective of the current study is to identify those projects needed to improve I-475 and US 23 to safely handle the traffic demands foreseen through the year
2035.
A Phased Process
For major projects such as this, ODOT has developed a 14-Step Project Development Process. JE Associates was selected to complete Steps 1 through 4 of the I-475 preliminary development process, resulting in a Strategic Plan for the I-475 corridor.
The four steps include the following work:
Step One - Work with Stakeholders to Understand Problems, Needs, and Goals
Step Two - Conduct Research and Technical Studies on the problems and constraints
Step Three - Identify and Evaluate Conceptual Alternative Solutions
Step Four - Strategic Plan Report
